I went by and picked my 7 year old son up from school the other day and immediately I could tell he had something on his mind. I asked him how his day went and he said his day went well. About two minutes went by and he said, “Daddy, you ain’t gonna believe this.” I said, “Believe what?” He said “Dad, this kid in my class brought a lemon for a snack!” Now you would have to know my son Ashton. He takes food very seriously. LOL. I said “Son, why did he bring a lemon for snack time?” He said he didn’t know. I could tell this didn’t settle well with my son. I couldn’t help but laugh because he went on and on about this kid bringing a lemon for a snack. He did not think it was very funny. I said, “Ashton, just be glad his mama didn’t pack your snack today or you may have had a lemon too!” He replied with, “Daddy, what kind of mama packs a kid a lemon for snack?” Then quickly he said, “Daddy, I think that kid packed his own snack, no mama would give you a lemon!” I laughed until my stomach hurt. A Heritage Worth Fighting For
Heritage. What is it? What does it mean? Why is it important? Merriam Websters dictionary states that heritage is:
1) property that is or may be inherited; an inheritance.
2) a special or individual possession; an allotted portion.
The Thesaurus states that heritage (noun) is :
1)inheritance, birthright, patrimony; legacy, bequest.
2)tradition, history, past, background; culture, customs.
3)ancestry, lineage, descent, extraction,parentage, roots, background, heredity.
As I sat here tonight and pondered on what I would call this blog, it dawned on me. I asked myself the questions. Why am I writing a blog? What is the purpose? What is my motive? I have become concerned and at times even frustrated by what I see in the Apostolic movement today. My heritage is under attack.
